Fly Fishing Destination Trip Alaska 2011!
Imagine if you will, staring down through gin clear water at pods of steelhead that are as large as a bath tub. Now imagine one of these beasts hitting your fly hard…really hard. So hard, that their take would rip the fly rod from your hands if you didn’t have a death grip on it. Line screams from your reel, while this fish makes one dramatic run after another, making wild and uncontrolled acrobatic leaps.
For those who have not had the good fortune to fish the famous steelhead run on Alaska’s Situk River, listening to others relate their tales and personal exploits about this place can be a bit overwhelming and overbearing. Separating fact from fiction comes to mind when hearing stories about these “bionic” steelhead that can break your heart (and your rod) if not landed. Take it from someone who has been there many times and will continue to go back – there is no fiction here. YOU WILL have stories to tell of your own when you come back from this trip.
Here, in the majestic silence of the Alaskan wilderness, where the only sound is the gentle bubbling of the river, experience a big fish oasis. Curtis Wright Outfitters will host a trip on the Situk River near Yakutat, Alaska during early May of 2010. The Glacier Bear Lodge will be home during our week stay. Total cost will be $3,400 per person and includes all meals, two days with a drift boat (a saltwater ocean option for Salmon & Halibut) for the week. Please contact any of our three stores for details and information.
